Sixteen Democratic Representatives wrote Bush a letter calling for the immediate removal of American troops from Iraq on January 12th . To add momentum to this movement, we can do five things: thank the Representatives who wrote the letter, urge our members of Congress to join the effort, write letters to local media that demand the removal of our troops, spread the word of this initiative and organize an action in your local community for the two-year anniversary of the invasion in Iraq on March 19 th .  Is the Draft Around the Corner?
The military is not meeting its recruitment quotas; it is spending more than $300 million to offer initiative for re-enlistments. To put this in perspective, that is the same amount that has been offered by the U.S. for tsunami relief! The Marines Corps had not only lowered its enlistment standards, but is also offering up to $30,000 to new recruits. The National Guard is offering up to a $10,000 re-enlistment bonus.
