Do you know about the PA plan for universal single-payer health care? Are you ready for real reform in PA?
The Family and Business Health Care Security Act (SB300) is a state wide single-payer,universal health care plan for PA that covers everyone. It is not European style "socialized medicine." The health care delivery system of doctors, hospitals ,etc. would not be changed, taken over or rationed. It is not Gov. Rendell's much weaker "Prescription for Pennsylvania" plan. It is a single-payer health care financing system, meaning that health insurance coverage will be provided to all Pennsylvanians out of a single tax-supported public fund, the way Medicare is for older citizens on the national level. Join the Fight to Save Internet Radio
Congress and SoundExchange have heard loud and clear the amazing outpouring of support for Internet radio from webcasters, listeners and the thousands of artists they support. A commitment has been made to negotiate reasonable royalties, recognizing the industry’s long-term value and its still-developing revenue potential.
This development is due in great part to the millions of people who have let their Congressional representatives know about their support of Internet radio. Over 125 representatives have cosponsored the bill to this point.
We urge listeners to continue calling their Senators and Representative to ask them to co-sponsor the Internet Radio Equality Act. Thank you. [READ MORE]

Developer Withdraws From Rt 222 / Maxatawny Big Box Development! "Gambone Development Co. has abandoned its controversial proposal to build a shopping center along Route 222 in Maxatawny Township, which some opponents believed would be anchored by a Wal-Mart. In a statement issued Thursday, the East Norriton Township developer said it found the township’s conditions for approval of the project unreasonable. This is an apparent victory for small towns across the USA, but it may not be over yet. The developer could choose another site within Maxatawny, or any other neighboring township. It is important to keep up the fight. Let's preserve the "small town" atmosphere that everyone loves about our community. The development plans would have included:
- more than 200,000 sq ft of retail space for one "big box" store
(most likely a Wal-Mart..nothing else has a "footprint" as big)
- an additional 680,000 sq ft of other retail boxes and warehouse space
- 2,900+ parking spacesWhy is Wal-Mart a bad idea?

U.S.House Bill 676 - Introduced by Rep. Conyers of Michigan
In 2003, Rep Conyers introduced HR 676, The United States National Health Insurance Act, co-sponsored by Dennis Kucinich, (D- OH), Jim McDermott, (D-WA, and Donna Christensen (D-VI). The bill currently has 37 co-sponsors. Under HR 676, Medicare is extended and improved so that all individuals residing in the United States would receive high quality and affordable health care services. They would get a national health insurance card, and receive all medically necessary services by the physicians of their choice, with no restrictions on what providers they could visits. This includes primary care, dental, mental health, prescription drugs, and long term care.(CLICK HERE) for brief summary of the legislation Contact John Conyers
Take Action: Protect America's National Parks
America's National Parks have a higher approval rating than the President and many members of Congress. Special natural places like the Great Smokies, Yellowstone, and Yosemite are popular travel destinations. So why is the Bush administration proposing a major rewrite of the policies that guide management of our National Parks? Under the proposed changes, the management philosophy would switch from one of conservation -- which has long protected these national treasures -- to one of commercialization. Tell the Park Service that a rewrite of park policies is misguided and that you strongly support retaining the current management policies. (CLICK HERE)

Stop WAL-MART from Punishing Unions (CLICK HERE) to protest against Wal-Mart's union-punishing actions. Wal-Mart penalized meat cutters for voting to join the union in Texas a few years ago by closing all of its meat cutting departments in the state. In a similar act earlier this year, Wal-Mart closed a store in Quebec because it had its union election certified by the Canadian government. Please sign the above petition to tell Wal-Mart that its actions were unacceptable and that it needs to reverse its decision.
Defend Civil Rights and Health Services The next time you go to the hospital, you should not have to worry that a nurse might not treat you because it against his religion to provide the service you need.
Urge your Senators to oppose legislation -- such as the Workplace Religious Freedom Act -- that would endanger civil rights and health care by allowing employees to claim religious exemptions as reasons for failing to do their duty. (CLICK HERE)
