The four proposed "Values" listed below were arrived at through a survey of KADC club members, several meetings by our communications committee, and a lengthy debate at our monthly discussion meeting (4/26/05).

Human Dignity
Democrats uphold the constitutional rights of every individual, regardless of age, ethnicity, race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, physical condition, language, political opinion or economic position. In addition, every individual has the right to a job, an adequate, healthy standard of living, medical care, a good education and security in the event of unemployment, sickness, accident, widowhood or old age.

Community Responsibility
Individually and through government, Democrats promote the common good by means of equal opportunity, fair business, responsible trade, support for unions, progressive taxation, fiscal responsibility, technology and environmental stewardship. Government resources and authority must be used to improve the lives of all.

Integrity
The conduct of government and elections must be honest and open -of, by and for the people, not corporations and self -serving politicians. Democrats uphold the rule of law and do not tolerate abuse of power. We are committed to the inalienable rights of man, first of which is to defend democracy.

Smart Defense; Intelligent Foreign Policy
Democrats strive for peace among all nations and the well-being of theIr people, achieving it by peaceful means and war only as a last resort. We must return to a foreign policy where our intervention in the internal affairs of other nations and regions is predicated only on direct threats to our territorial integrity, national sovereignty, liberty, or for the prevention of genocide.  These are our true national security and humanitarian interests, and our foreign policy should be based on this rather than on imposing our economic values and government on other peoples and cultures.
